CoolSaver A/C Tune-ups are offered at no cost to customers in CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric's service territory, valued at more than $120. 

A CoolSaver A/C Tune-up may improve the cooling output and efficiency of your air conditioning unit by up to 25 percent (actual savings may vary). 
During a CoolSaver Tune-up, a qualified, participating technician will:
  • Measure indoor airflow and correct if needed
  • Inspect filter and change or clean if dirty
  • Clean outdoor condenser coils
  • Inspect indoor coil and clean if dirty
  • Inspect indoor blower and clean if dirty
  • Adjust refrigerant charge to the manufacturer’s specifications using a digital refrigerant analyzer
  • Provide additional recommendations that may improve the A/C’s efficiency and performance

  • Smart Thermostat Questions

    Which smart thermostats intergratge with the Evolve Energy app? 


    Right now, Evolve Energy supports intergration with all Honeywell and Ecobee wifi smart thermostats.



    Is there a limit to the number of smart thermostat devices I can purchase through Efficiency Connection? 


    Yes, you may receive a maximum of two smart thermostat incentives per residence. 



    How do I participate in the smart thermostat offer? 


    Eligible smart thermostats are available through our Efficiency Connection online marketplace or the Instant Rebate portal. Apply the coupon code at the time of purchase. 



    May I still receive the discount if I install the smart thermostat myself? 


    Yes. Eligible devices purchased from our Efficiency Connection online marketplace or Instant Rebate portal will be discounted at time of purchase and may be installed by the homeowner. For best results, please reference the installation instructions provided by your selected device’s manufacturer. Installation by an A/C contractor is recommended but not required. 



    Does my new smart thermostat need to be connected to Wi-Fi? 


    Yes. All discounted thermostats need to be connected to Wi-Fi. If you plan to install the device yourself, follow the manufacturer's instructions to properly provision your thermostat. If the smart thermostat is installed by an A/C contractor, it should be provisioned during installation.

  • LED Lighting Questions

    Is there a limit to the number of LED lamps I can purchase through Efficiency Connection? 


    Yes, you may purchase up to 36 LEDs per order and up to 108 lamps per year from multiple orders.



    What if I need to return my LEDs?


    After your purchase is complete, you’ll receive a confirmation email that includes instructions for contacting TechniArt’s customer service department in the event that you receive broken or defective items.


  • CoolSaver A/C Tune-up Questions

    What is a CoolSaver A/C Tune-up?  


    While a traditional A/C tune-up usually includes only the measurement of refrigerant and installation of a clean air filter, a CoolSaver Tune-up also includes cleaning dirty condenser coils, evaporator coils, and blowers; measuring and correcting improper airflow; and adjusting refrigerant charge with digital accuracy:

    1. Filter must be provided by or paid for by customer 
    2. The technician may not clean if it is already clean, inaccessible, or cleaning would cause damage 
    3. If your A/C system requires refrigerant, the technician will provide you a repair estimate
    4. What are the benefits of a CoolSaver Tune-up?

    A CoolSaver Tune-up may:

    • Increase energy efficiency
    • Improve indoor cooling
    • Improve humidity control

    Can a CoolSaver A/C Tune-up be performed at any time during the year?


    The outdoor temperature must be at least 70 degrees Fahrenheit in order to perform the A/C tune-up. A/C tune-ups may not be performed during rainy or inclement weather.



    How much is the tune-up?


    The CoolSaver A/C Tune-up, valued at more than $120 per A/C system, is offered at no cost by your Retail Electric Provider. During the tune-up, the technician may provide additional recommendations to improve your A/C’s efficiency and performance. There may be additional cost for repairs identified during the tune-up.



    Who can receive a CoolSaver Tune-up?


    Customers of participating REPs located within CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric’s distribution service territory that meet the following criteria may participate:

    • Central A/C or heat pump that is at least one-year-old and not in need of major repair at the time of the tune-up
    • Individual A/C systems are no more than five tons for residential customers or 25 tons for commercial customers
    • If a residential customer, must not be an apartment (single family, duplex, townhomes, and condominiums are eligible)
    • A CoolSaver A/C Tune-up has not been performed in the past five years 

    Note: Geothermal systems, window units, mini-splits, and chillers are not eligible to participate.

    How do I participate in CoolSaver if my Retail Electric Provider is offering it? 


    In order to receive your discounted A/C tune-up, as offered by your Retail Electric Provider, call 866.688.2323 to register and be connected with a participating contractor who will schedule the tune-up during a time that will work with your schedule. It is preferred that you be on-site during the tune-up.



    Why doesn't my recent A/C tune-up qualify for a discount?


    Only tune-ups performed by qualified CoolSaver technicians are eligible. Customers are only eligible if their Retail Electric Provider participates. 



    Can I use my HVAC contractor to perform the tune-up? 


    Only HVAC contractors that have completed CoolSaver training and purchased the necessary tools may perform a CoolSaver Tune-up. Your preferred contractor may call 866.688.2323 for more information on becoming a participating contractor. 



    Who should I contact concerning questions or issues after a CoolSaver Tune-up is performed? 


    Customers should first contact the contractor that performed the tune-up with any questions or potential issues with their system. If you cannot locate the contractor contact information you can email CoolSaver.CenterPoint@CLEAResult.com or call 866.688.2323 to request the contractor contact information. 

  • Other General Program Questions

    When will I receive the discount? 


    When you visit the website and enter your home zip code, you’ll be identified as an eligible customer and will be able to view the discounted price of the products while shopping. You will receive an instant discount at the time of purchase. 



    Why don’t I see a discount applied through Efficiency Connection? 


    If you’re not a customer of an eligible REP and/or you don’t reside within CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric’s service territory, then you will not be eligible to purchase discounted products via Efficiency Connection. 


    Can I get the same discount if I don’t use Efficiency Connection? 


    No, these discounts are only available through the Efficiency Connection online marketplace. 



    When will I receive my order? 


    After your purchase is complete, you will receive a confirmation email with the shipping date and tracking number for your order. This email will also indicate whether any of your items are on back order. In most cases, you’ll receive your order within one week.
